IMPORTANT: Read carefully before purchasing or accessing any Distinctive Career Services career marketing services, information products, or proprietary systems, including our intake materials. By purchasing, accessing or using our services, products, programs, or materials, you acknowledge that:
A. You have read this agreement
B. You understand it, and
C. You accept and agree to be bound by its terms.
PROJECT SCOPE & PROCESS:
The fee for your resume and/or other services was calculated based on the information you provided at the time of the price quote. If this information is found to be inaccurate, fees are subject to manual readjustment (we will discuss this with you first, if necessary). Completion of the informational career intake worksheet provided to you by Distinctive Career Services, LLC is a requirement of the resume project. You, as the client, agree to complete the informational worksheet thoroughly and to the best of your ability. We encourage clients to complete and return this questionnaire as soon as possible. If more than 90 days have passed between the date of project authorization and the date you return the completed questionnaire to Distinctive Career Services, LLC, we reserve the right to reassess project charges at current rates.
Up to one hour of telephone consultation will be allowed at no additional charge for clarification of questions not answered thoroughly on the worksheet. If additional consultation time exceeding one hour is necessary, at the discretion of Distinctive Career Services, LLC, charges will be assessed in 15-minute increments at our current consultation rate of $200/hour. We will keep you informed and let you know before any additional charges accrue. Whenever possible, we will attempt to communicate by e-mail to avoid accrual of unexpected charges.
PROJECT TIMELINE:
All work will be completed in a timely manner subject to acts of God, mechanical failure, or other circumstances beyond the control of Distinctive Career Services, LLC. We schedule projects in the order that intake worksheets are returned and are almost always fully booked between two and three weeks in advance. We strive to provide a first draft of written works to clients within ten to fifteen business days, but the turnaround time may be longer during high-volume times. Rush service is not available, so please plan ahead. Clients understand that failure to complete the informational intake worksheet thoroughly may cause an extension of turnaround time and/or additional fees for extended consultation time.
SATISFACTION GUARANTEE:
Your satisfaction is our primary concern. If you are not completely satisfied with the quality of the documents that are produced for you, just let us know before the 15-day proofing period ends. If we cannot alleviate your concerns with the prepared document, we will assign a new writer and rewrite it for free. If you have asked for revisions to draft documents that we believe, in our professional opinion and experience, will negatively impact the document strategy, focus, or results, we will discuss this with you and attempt to find a compromise that satisfies your concerns while maintaining the integrity of the document. If you choose to have us make changes that are against our professional advice, we will do what is necessary to satisfy you, but we may ask you to sign a release indicating that the changes were made at your directive.
You agree to take full responsibility for your own success. Results from the documents we produce and the services we provide can and do vary based on a number of factors outside the control of Distinctive Career Services, LLC. If you have not secured an interview within three months of using the documents we have created, we will provide a FREE 30-minute consultation to review and evaluate your search strategies and recommend alternate approaches. To take advantage of this free consultation, you must contact us between 90 and 120 days (after three months, but not over four months) from the delivery of your final documents to schedule an appointment. Any additional editing or writing services agreed upon as a result of this consultation will incur a new fee.
PAYMENT & REFUND POLICIES:
New clients booking a full resume-writing project have the option of paying for all services in full at the time of the service booking. Or, they may opt to pay for services in two installments. The first 50% will be charged at the time of the booking, and the final 50% will be charged 30 days later to the same credit card unless you ask us to use an alternate form of payment. If you opt for installment payments and the second payment fails to process on the 30th day, all work on your project will cease until payment is made. The two-payment option is not available for some services unless ordered as part of a bundle of services.
Fees are for retained, custom writing, advisory, and coaching services, and proprietary program materials. If you request cancellation of your project within three days (72 hours) of booking and before work commences, fees will be refunded minus a 15% processing fee. In all other cases, Distinctive Career Services abides by a strict no-refund policy. Services paid for but not initiated by the Client within 90 days (for example, not returning the initial informational worksheet) will become a non-refundable credit towards services (at current pricing rates). All credits of this nature must be used within 24 months or will be forfeited. By accepting the terms of this Agreement, you agree and understand that you are foregoing the right to claim any refund of fees paid for access and use of our services and program materials. You further acknowledge that in accepting the terms of this Agreement and affirmatively seeking the benefits of our services, you are taking full responsibility for your own success. This payment policy remains in effect for any future services you may order.
PROOFREADING:
You will receive proofreading instructions with your proof copy and are asked to check all data for accuracy and completeness. You will be given 15 business days from the date of proof submission to request revisions and authorize the finalization of the writing project. Distinctive Career Services, LLC is committed to obtaining your complete satisfaction and will work with you to attain it.
If corrections are needed, clients are asked to schedule a call or Zoom meeting to discuss them or forward them via e-mail to their writer. Client agrees to indicate revisions as a ‘set’ rather than one at a time (i.e., Please proof thoroughly and take your time to organize your thoughts and questions before requesting revisions. If we have prepared more than one document for you, please prepare and submit your feedback for all of the documents). Distinctive Career Services, LLC will complete up to three (3) sets of revisions at no additional charge. Your writer may need to set an appointment and speak with you by phone or Zoom to clarify your requested changes before revising a proof. Clients will be charged $100 for each additional set of revisions requested (exceeding three). These charges are easily avoided if you take your time and be thorough with your feedback, submitting it as a set. Distinctive Career Services, LLC is not responsible for errors or omissions that are ‘missed’ during the proofreading process. However, any document errors that are brought to our attention within 30 days of receiving the final package will be corrected with no additional charge.
Because it requires us to spend additional time refamiliarizing ourselves with your project after too much time has passed, after 15 business days and before 60 days, clients requesting revisions will be charged a $150 project reactivation fee. We urge you to work collaboratively with the writer to finalize your project within the 15-day period to avoid these additional charges. After 60 days, the reactivation fee for your project will be assessed at our current rate for resume updating services.
ELECTRONIC FILES:
Distinctive Career Services, LLC cannot guarantee the compatibility of computer files with your computer system or that documents will retain their original formatting features. All documents are created in Microsoft Word (.DOCX), which is considered the business standard for resumes. Once the project is approved for finalization, you will receive by e-mail copies of your files in MS Word and PDF format, but please note that Distinctive Career Services, LLC does not provide technical support on document formatting and cannot guarantee system compatibility or the successful transfer of formatting features.
PROJECT FINALIZATION:
Distinctive Career Services, LLC will provide by email all documents formatted in MS Word and Adobe PDF once a resume project is finalized and approved. Unless other arrangements are made, you agree to finalize your resume and/or other written documents (or accept work as written) within 15 business days from the date of the first proof submission. We will not send finalized documents for any project until we have been given authorization by you. If you do not authorize finalization, Distinctive Career Services, LLC will assume that you have accepted and are using the e-mailed proof copy or copies and will consider the project closed. Distinctive Career Services, LLC is not responsible for finished work not claimed within 15 business days.
PROPERTY RIGHTS:
Distinctive Career Services, LLC retains property ownership of all work produced, although clients are permitted to reproduce documents and to alter their own documents. Clients are not permitted to transfer ownership to another party or permit them to use the document as a template. Unless requested otherwise in writing, the client grants Distinctive Career Services, LLC permission for the content of documents we have produced to be fictionalized (identity removed and identifying details changed to protect confidentiality) and published in articles, columns, books, and industry-related publications, in marketing materials, and as samples on our website at the discretion of Distinctive Career Services, LLC.
INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS:
If the Client is living or traveling outside of the United States and a telephone conversation is necessary to complete the project, Client agrees to initiate that telephone call.
INDEMNIFICATION:
You will, at your own expense, defend, indemnify, and hold Distinctive Career Services, LLC, its agents, and employees harmless from any and all claims, actions, liabilities, injuries, damages, losses, grants, costs, and expenses, including attorney fees, arising out of or in connection with any use of the services or programs of this Agreement. You agree that any inaccurate, incorrect, or misleading information in your resume or other documents provided to you by Distinctive Career Services, LLC is not the responsibility of Distinctive Career Services, LLC and that you had an opportunity to review the materials and approve the entire content prior to use or delivery. Company reserves the right to update this Terms of Service at any time, and Client expressly agrees to abide by the Terms of Service.
